Our premium, light coloured, wood pellets are ideal for horse bedding – – Recommended by Pro Riders Tom Crisp and Mark Butler.
10 Reasons why Wood Pellets have become a main-stream choice for animal bedding:
1). Overall wood pellets return considerably less waste, less time and less storage at a lower cost!
2). Typically wood shavings tend to get thrown out easily with muck, you’ll be amazed at how little pellets are disposed of by a shake of your fork!
Wet matter, even in the most extreme wet cases pellets really function beyond compare. They absorb so well that most stables will only require minimal removal of wet patches.
3). Similar to ‘deep litter’ you may prefer to mix a fork of clean bed into the wet areas to really get the most from the pellets soaking properties. ‘Deep littered’ wood shaving beds are frequently topped to keep them dry, and in the end resulting in heavy work load to remove the whole bedding after winter.
4). Pellets soak very fast to stabilize wet patches, keeping the majority of the bed dry.
5). A complete bed change may be necessary at least once per year to air out and disinfect the stable routinely, however, with pellets the bed never needs to be bulky.
6). Wood shavings bedding may cost up to £800 per year to maintain, whilst in comparison pellets up to £400 including 3 full bedding changes throughout the year.
7). A firm base including rubber matting is ideal for any bedding. Pellets create a good firm base much quicker and easier than wood shavings even if there is no rubber matting down.
8). Starting off a bed is easy; simply empty up to 10 bags and dampen to soften the surface. Beds can be topped up with a single 15kg bag as required and although water can be applied it is not necessary as pellets soften with the moisture and air in the stable.
9). Less storage space is required because a 15kg bag of pellets is less than 1/4 of the size of a 15kg bag of wood shavings
10). Wood pellets return less waste reducing the size of your muck heap considerably.
